BizLink – Award Winning Program for Entrepreneurs

Community Futures South Georgian Bay is proud to announce that the BizLink program won the Award of Excellence for Community Economic Development at the recent Community Futures Ontario conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXnESuOibws.

The BizLink program supports business owners looking to transition their business to new ownership as well as sellers who are purchasing an existing business. BizLink provides access to tools, coaching, resources, and a network of experts to assist individuals throughout their succession plan, business purchase and ownership transition.  BizLink provides the opportunity to assist with the buying and selling process while keeping a level of anonymity that works for the business owner looking to transition and also the entrepreneur looking to buy a business. The business transition process can involve a lot of emotions from both the buyer and the seller. Having an independent, supportive and knowledgeable coach and advocate can greatly assist this process.

Business transitions are increasingly important to the economy, small businesses and rural communities. In Canada it is anticipated that 76% of business owners plan to exit their business in the next decade. Important programs like BizLink will enable communities to retain both businesses and their employees.

In partnership with three other Community Futures offices across Simcoe County, the program has supported over 1000 entrepreneurs with coaching, advice and training and assisted with 75 business transitions. The program retained an estimated $73 million in annual revenues in the local economy. We are proud to offer the BizLink program to our local small business community.
